2006: HWT X-1 Prototype Launched

2006 saw the assembly and first at-sea testing of the Harbor Wing prototype vessel, the HWT X-1.  This vessel was the product of over two years of planning, design, engineering, electronics integration and assembly.  The world class team of Harbor Wing employees, contractor experts and consulting partners has produced a technically unique, one-of-a-kind wind-driven autonomous vessel.  The vessel’s proof-of-concept and technology demonstration and testing is successfully under way. A large portion of this development was funded by a follow-on research & development contract for the US NAVY.

2006: Follow-on NAVY contract awarded

Harbor Wing Technologies, Inc completes land-based testing of the control system for the wingsail (July 2006) and begins ocean-based testing of the 2/3-scale prototype (Dec 2006). The ability to control the vessel at sea and retrieve situational awareness data for Operational Commanders is demonstrated. A follow-on contract was awarded in July 2006 to further AUSV development.
