WINGSAIL

Designed and engineered by world class naval architect David Hubbard, the WingSailTM is the heart of the Harbor Wing AUSV's design and capability. Standing either thirty or sixty feet high, the environmentally friendly "engine" incorporates a number of unique elements. The rigid WingSailTM rotates 360 degrees enabling the vessel to be propelled in virtually any direction and maneuver efficiently upwind and downwind. Unique horizontally mounted airfoil "tails" control the direction of thrust and amount of "lift" that the WingSailTM produces. Directed by Harbor Wing propriety software, the WingSailTM provides high-end propulsion power that is elegantly and precisely controlled.



 





Sail-by-wire WingSailTM Control™

The speed and heading of a recreational or commercial vessel outfitted with the WingSailTM and WingSailTM-Control™software can be controlled aboard the vessel by a captain or helmsman using an accelerator. Harbor Wing's patent-pending Sail-by-Wire WingSailTM Control™utilizes an intelligent software-directed electro-mechanical control system to modulate the WingSailTM™. The precise control it provides, including robotic responses that automatically depower the wing when wind velocity exceeds preset safety tolerances, will enable even large sailing vessels to be piloted with no deck crew other than the captain.
